Canon 100-400mm IS L zoom lens: A versatile all purpose zoom lens for all types of nature and general photography. Several excellent photographers including Dan Cadieux and Aidan Briggs use this lens as their workhorse bird photography telephoto lens.
Canon EOS-1D Mark IV professional digital camera body. My two Mark IVs are my workhorse digital camera bodies.

I still can’t hear that bird singing, maybe I need to add my 2X teleconverter.
I thought this was pretty obvious. Artie is so attuned to his subjects that he can shoot them by sound.

Great photo! I think you are pressing your face against the camera body to steady it while handholding. Your left eye is still on the subject.
I think you’re closing an eye to avoid being blinded by the sun. Not funny, but possibly true.

Yup, that’s 1/2000th of a second alright! The shutter’s fine, must be something wrong with the lens.

“The new microphone on the 70-300 also allows you to hear the bird’s calls as well as get a great picture”
“Remember, it gets cold in Alaska and the metal of your camera may stick to exposed skin”
“Do note that the latest Canon bodies have the user manual stored internally. If you are concentrating on the subject, you can program the replay button to read the manual out loud. Just set custom function IV-18b to 3.”
Well, the image is quite “funny”…
