What’s Up?

With the hundred year big surf, I did not photograph a single pelican. I concentrated on the 15+ foot waves using both the 200-600 and the 70-200 with 3-, 5-, and 10-stop ND filters. I got some really nice stuff that I will share with you here soon, especially of the breakwater at Children’s Pool.

Today is Saturday 7 January, Day 1 of the second San Diego IPT. I will be joined by old friends John Dupps and Sanjeev Nagrath and first timers Bryan Love and Steve Murdock. The forecast for the morning is for partly cloudy turning cloudy with a gentle breeze from the NE. Not bad. This blog post took about an hour to prepare (plus the two weeks spent creating the images) and makes two hundred eighty-five days in a row with a new, educational post just for you. Gear Questions and Advice

Too many folks attending BAA IPTs and dozens of photographers whom I see in the field and on BPN, are — out of ignorance — using the wrong gear, especially when it comes to tripods and more especially, tripod heads.
